IAEA Technical Meeting on Research Reactor Coalitions:

 Concerted actions in the Mediterranean Region, 10-13 July 2012, Istanbul

Introduction

The IAEA Technical Meeting on the "Research Reactor Coalitions: Concerted actions in the Mediterranean Region" will take place July 10-13, 2012, in Istanbul, Turkey. The meeting will be hosted by the Energy Institute at Istanbul Technical University. This will be the third meeting in this series, since the Mediterranean Research Reactor Network was created in 2010 in Vienna.

Objectives

ˇ Development of regional strategic plan in RR utilization, including provision of RR products and  services, in the Mediterranean Region,

ˇ Strengthened regional cooperation among RR facilities from developing and developed countries with special emphasis on the transfer of knowledge and good practices from multi-user international RR centres,

ˇ Enhancement of RR utilization in Member States through regional RR networks and coalitions, including countries without RRs.

Expected Output of Meeting

The principal output of the meeting will be a meeting report summarizing major findings and recommendations in the area of research reactor networks and coalitions supported by the IAEA. This document will serve as an initial working material for the future guidelines publication how the RR coalitions should be initiated, efficiently run and sustainably managed. The Mediterranean RR Network will be considered as a case study, while good practices and lessons learned from other coalitions will also be discussed and included in the document. These guidelines will be reviewed, finalised and published by the IAEA.

Meeting Format

The format of the meeting will be invited and contributed oral presentations presented in sessions devoted to special topics, with subsequent discussions and breakout sessions. An electronic projector with a computer capable of reading CDs and memory sticks will be available (Power Point or Acrobat recommended). The official language of the meeting is English. The meeting will start at 09:30 on 10 July 2012, and will be concluded by 17:00 on 13 July 2012.

 

 

 

Please note that in July is a peak season in Istanbul, therefore early hotel booking is highly recommended.
